Honored with Two Projects of Distinction Gold Awards for 2022

MADISON, Wis. – Stevens Construction Corp., a Madison, Wisconsin-based general contractor, received two Projects of Distinction Gold Awards for excellence in construction from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin. The awards honor the quality and professionalism of merit construction projects by ABC of Wisconsin members.

The 2022 Stevens’ projects recognized for excellence highlight the company’s breadth of expertise in the senior living and multifamily markets:
Vista West, Madison, Wisc. – Gold Award
Owner: Capri Communities
Architect: AG Architecture
The Vista West provides a modern senior living option with design features that support aging in place. The campus offers 144 independent living and assisted living apartments, as well as 30 memory care apartments, central common and activity spaces.
The building construction includes underground parking with post-tension slabs at the first and second floors, non-combustible metal framing construction between post-tension slabs and four stories of wood framing on top of the post-tension slab.
Approximately 30% of the project was completed with self-performed labor, including building post-tension concrete work, window installation, wood framing and all finish carpentry.
NoVo Apartments, Madison, Wisc. – Gold Award

The NoVo Apartments project is an urban infill redevelopment that offers a unique residential living experience in Downtown Madison. NoVo Apartments delivers modern architecture with clean welcoming urban interiors and robust lifestyle and wellness amenities, while highlighting innovative sustainable design strategies. This project demonstrates how thoughtful urban infill development can deliver both sustainable solutions and robust amenities for market rate and affordable housing.
NoVo Apartments is a 162-unit apartment building that rises nine floors over an existing City of Madison parking garage. Nine levels of post-tensioned concrete were constructed to create the new apartment building that features a penthouse condo and fifth floor amenity area with a fitness center, game room, kitchen, outdoor grills and a dog run area.
NoVo Apartments includes a large curve along the east elevation to provide an impressive design feature. Segmented concrete forms and prefabricated steel stud wall panels were used to build the distinct curve. The building’s exterior panel façade includes different types of metal and colors that required careful construction to ensure the reveals and straight lines tied the entire building together. The straight lines and reveals continue into the lobby with custom millwork panels.
The Projects of Distinction Awards were presented January 19, 2023, at the Glacial Canyon Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells. ABC of Wisconsin recognized 48 projects with gold and silver awards. The award-winning projects can be viewed in the ABC of Wisconsin 2022 Awards Magazine.
